U-11 BOYS ADVANCE TO PLAYOFFS

The Cheshire United U11 boys went into this weekend needing two wins (Saturday and Sunday) to advance to the playoffs. Both games were against the same team and that team was one win ahead in the standings and sitting in the last playoff spot.
Our first game on Saturday in Pelham, the boys came ready to play and took a quick lead on goals by Rohan Kalke, Daniel Malay and Peirce Bowman. The momentum carried over into the second half and Cheshire scored two more goals, one by Graham Dunsford and a second goal on the day for Daniel Malay. The Pelham Red Hawks would score one goal toward the end of the game to make the final score 5-1.

Sunday's game was much tougher. Pelham was ready and knew that a loss would knock them out of a playoff spot. Cheshire fought hard and built up a 2 - 0 lead on goals by Trevor Willich and Pierce Bowman. It was an incredibly hot day and Pelham came at us with lots of pressure in the second half scoring once to make it a nail-bitter. Cheshire played some great defense and Ethan Bourassa was stellar in the net. They would not score again.  Final score 2-1.
This team showed a lot of heart and perseverance winning their last two games and wrestling the last playoff spot away from the Pelham Red Hawks.

What a weekend for Cheshire United!
